A blank copy of the Supreme Court of Virginia Certificate of Attendance for GALs can be found at http://www.courts.state.va.us/gal/forms_children.html. It is recommended that attorneys seeking GAL credit, complete this form and submit it for each online course they desire to be approved.

Yes, you can stop listening to a program and return to it at any time before the course is deactivated. See the end date on the course listings page for deactivation. Only segments that have been completed are recorded on your account - if you leave a program in mid-segment, you will have to start at the begining of that segment when you return in order to complete it.
After you finish listening to a course completely, follow the link to the Certificate of Attendance. This will create an individualized certificate with your name and bar number automatically inserted on the form. Print the certificate and send or fax it to the MCLE Office at the Virginia State Bar, Eighth & Main Building, 707 East Main Street, Suite 1500, Richmond, VA 23219. The fax number is 804-775-0544. Virginia CLE does
not
report your credits - you are responsible for submitting the certificate.
You may also log in and go to the List of Available Courses at anytime after you have completed the seminar (but before the seminar is deactivated) and click on the Certificate icon next to the course name and print a copy of the certificate.
Once you have purchased a course, it is available until it is taken off the website. Once a deactivation date is established, an end date is shown on the Available Courses page. Do not register for a course with an End Date if you will not be able to complete it prior to that date. You can listen to the course at any time of the week, day or night.
No. All registrations for online seminars must be purchased with a Visa or MasterCard number at the online seminar site,

We do not recommend using a Macintosh computer. However, some users have been able to successfully complete online seminars using Macintosh computers. You will still need Windows Media Player and Adobe Reader software installed on your computer.
Most Windows PC's manufactured in recent years have Windows Media Player installed. You may need to update your Windows Media Player if it is an older version. Links to download free Windows Media Player and free Adobe Reader are available from the
Test Your System screen on the online seminar site. Windows Media Player and Adobe Reader can also be downloaded
here.
Follow the instructions on the screen to download the programs you need to use the online seminar site. Once you have downloaded the programs, you will need to find the file you downloaded on your hard drive or network and doubleclick it. This will launch the installation process for the program. Follow the instructions on the screen. Once installation has finished, the download is complete.
Virginia CLE's online seminars provide downloadable written materials and audio/video streaming from accredited Virginia MCLE programs. To participate, simply go to the online seminar website,
www.eondirect.com/vacle/PublicSite/Welcome.asp. Click on the Test Your System button to determine
whether or not your computer has the necessary software. If the Test Your System page says you do not have Windows Media Player and Adobe Reader installed, you must install that software from the links on that page.
Once the software is installed, click on the Login button and on the Login page, click on the Register button or the Sign Me Up link. Each user must have a login (your e-mail address) and a password. This registration process will allow you to purchase and participate in online seminars. Complete the registration form, and then go to the Login page. Using your e-mail address and new password, log into the site using the Member Login area on the right side of the screen. This will display the Available Courses page, a screen at which you can purchase and listen to courses. Click on the Seminar Name for Information or Purchase icon to the right of each seminar title. After you have purchased a course you will be able to click on the Listen/View icon to participate in the program.
Before purchasing a course, a login must be created. To create a login, click on the Register button.
Once you have created a login name and password, log into the online seminar site using the Member Login column on the right side of the Login screen. This will take you to a page that displays a list of all available courses with a purchase icon to the right of the name of each seminar. Click on the course name for information about the course or the purchase icon. After selecting the purchase icon, a course purchase screen will be displayed. Enter your credit card information in the format shown, and click on the Purchase button. If your purchase is successful, a thank you screen will display and you will receive an e-mail confirming your purchase.
If a thank you screen does not display, or if you do not receive a confirmation e-mail, exit the online seminar site and log into it again. If the course has been purchased successfully, the Purchase icon will have been replaced with a Listen/View icon. If the Purchase icon is still available, try to purchase the course again, making sure to match the recommended format for each field to the actual entry in the field.
Note: You must use a Visa or MasterCard to purchase a seminar. Debit/Check cards will not work on the website.
After you have purchased a course, click on the Listen/View icon next to the course name. A page with instructions on how to use the seminar will display. At the top of the screen, you will see a tab (link) to the Materials - simply click on the link to open a new window with the written materials, from which you can save them to your hard drive. Adobe Reader is required to access the written materials. If you do not have a recent copy of Adobe Reader, you can download it
here.
You can print the written materials from within the Adobe Reader window while you are participating in the seminar, or if you save the written materials to your hard drive you can go back later and open them and print from Adobe Reader.
After you have purchased a course, go to the Available Courses page and click on the Listen/View icon in the status column next to the seminar you have just purchased. A new window will open with instructions on how to use the seminar site. Read these instructions carefully. In the box on the left, click on either Low Speed or High Speed, depending upon your connection to the Internet. A new screen will appear and the program will start to load. The program is divided into segments. You must listen to each segment completely, before starting the next segment. You may print or view the written materials by clicking on the Materials tab at the top of the window. Written materials are required while you participate in the program.
No. In order to complete the course and receive credit, you must listen to each segment in its entirety and in sequence. Please do not fast forward the audio. Fast forwarding will result in having to re-listen to that particular segment. You may complete the entire course in one sitting or after you complete each segment, you may leave the site and return to complete the next segment at a later time.
Once you have completed all segments of the seminar you will be able to get your MCLE form.
* Login to the site and find the course you completed on the Available Courses page.
* To the right of the name of the course you completed there will be an icon under the
Options column that says "Certificate".
* Click on that icon and print your certificate.
If you have any problems, please call our support hotline at 800-590-6867.
There are several reasons why you may not be able to hear the audio for a course. If the audio is just starting to load and you have a slow connection to the Internet, it may take some time for the audio to begin streaming. If the Windows Media Player box on the listening screen says "Buffering", simply wait until a connection is started to hear the audio/view the video.
If you're still having trouble hearing the sound/viewing the video after the Windows Media Player box no longer says buffering or connecting:
Verify that you are using Windows Media Player version 9.0 or better. You can check this by opening Windows Media Player, selecting Help from the toolbar at the top of the screen (make sure you are viewing the page as a full screen), and selecting About Windows Media Player. The version number will be displayed inside the window that pops up. If you do not have version 9.0 or better, you will need to download an up-to-date version of Windows Media Player from our download area.
If you have a recent version of Windows Media Player installed, verify that your speakers are plugged in and turned on. Also confirm that your audio software on the computer is not turned down.
Another issue could be Internet congestion. You may want to try to listen to the seminar at a different time of day.
If you are not able to get the Windows Media Player to connect to the audio/video at all, check to make sure you don't have a firewall in place that may prevent the streaming. If you don't have a firewall in place, you may need to adjust your Windows Media Player's connection settings. Please contact our technical support (800-590-6867) for any help.
There are several reasons you may not be able to get past a segment. If you are using AOL, you
may need to participate in the online seminar using Internet Explorer - to find out how to do so,
click on AOL questions below. If you have listened to a segment that you did not
receive credit for, you will need to re-listen to it. As you do so, please be aware you will need to
re-listen to the segment completely - the audio will need to stream uninterrupted until the clock
on Windows Media Player resets to 00:00.0 to receive credit. If you pause, fast forward, or rewind, you will
not get credit for the segment.
Some segments have a few seconds of dead air at their end - be sure to check that the Windows Media Player
clock has reset to 00:00.0 before clicking the "Finished Segment" button to receive credit for the segment.
Please make sure you are using an updated version of Internet Explorer, and an updated version of Windows Media Player. Also, please make sure that your security settings are set to medium, and you do not have a firewall impeding streaming media. For users that are in an office environment, and cannot change their security settings, or run updates, you may need to contact your system administrator.
If you still experience trouble completing a segment, please contact technical support at 800-590-6867.
Audio/video streaming technology works quite well most of the time. The stream may be interrupted occasionally because of Internet congestion, especially during peak usage periods. If an interruption occurs, simply wait for the streaming to continue. If you experience multiple or lengthy interruptions, your connection speed may be too slow for video. Please check your internet connection speed and make sure you have selected the correct speed on the website. If you still experience such interruptions, please return to the course at a later time. Additional configuration information may be found by opening Windows Media Player and clicking on the Help tab at the top of the screen.
There are several possible causes for an ASP500 error. Generally, it is caused when your connection to the online seminar site is interrupted. Exiting and re-entering the site will usually fix this type of error.
If exiting and re-entering the online seminar site does not work, try exiting and re-entering your Internet connection. If the website is still not working for you, please contact technical support at 800-373-0366. You will need to provide your browser name and version number when you call.
There are several reasons your certificate may not be printing. Most of the reasons have to do with your browser. Below are several ways you may be able to get the certificate to print:
Try logging out of the online seminar site and logging on again and printing. Logging out will reset the web page.
Try right clicking on the page and selecting Print.
Try holding down "Control" and "P" at the same time on your keyboard.
If you are using AOL, you may have difficulty printing your certificate, since AOL is not
completely compatible with the online seminar site. Please use the workaround for AOL users.
If you forgot your password, go to the online seminar site and click on the Forgot Your Password link under the Member Login box. Where prompted, enter your e-mail address. You will be sent the password for the e-mail address that you entered within minutes.
If you experience a crash in mid-segment, you will not receive credit for that segment. You will need to re-enter the online seminar site and re-listen to the segment you were
listening to when the computer crashed. Be sure to allow the audio to stream uninterrupted for the full length of the segment. If your browser / Internet connection /
computer continues to crash, you may want to try listening to the seminar at a different time of day, when the Internet may be less congested (morning and late evening are recommended).
To change your contact information or password, log into the online seminar site. Click on the User Profile button at the top of the screen. Change your information as necessary, and click on the Update button to change your record.
The Virginia CLE online seminar site has some compatibility issues with AOL. If you are
having trouble getting past a segment, printing a certificate, or accessing the online seminar site, try this simple workaround:
Without closing your AOL window, click on the Start button in the lower left corner of your screen. From the popup menu, select Programs, and then select Internet Explorer (it will have an icon of a blue, lowercase e with a circle around it). In the Address: field, type in
http://www.eondirect.com/vacle/PublicSite/Welcome.asp and hit enter. This will take you to the online seminar site. Login using the Member Login on the right side of the screen and proceed through
the seminar or print your certificate using Internet Explorer.
A connection to the Internet of at least 56 kbps is highly recommended, and most people now have connections at that speed or faster.
