Which of your On-Demand and live Webcast courses are approved for MCLE credit?
|
All of our On-Demand and live Webcast courses are approved for MCLE credit by the Virginia State Bar. The Credits column on the View Courses page indicates how many MCLE credits each course is worth.

|
|
What's the difference between an On-Demand course and a live Webcast?
|
The main difference is that On-Demand courses are available at any time of the day or night and live Webcasts are scheduled events.
Our On-Demand courses, also called online seminars, are MCLE-approved archived video courses that you may complete at your leisure after purchasing, up until they are removed from the website.
Our live Webcast courses are MCLE-approved scheduled events that occur at a specific date and time, like a Telephone seminar. All of our live Webcasts have a date in their title to distinguish them from our On-Demand courses.
See below for more information about the differences between the two formats.
|
|
How can I ask questions and interact with the speakers for On-Demand courses and live Webcasts?
|
- For On-Demand courses, see the "What is the Bulletin Board?" question in the Purchasing and Viewing On-Demand Courses section below.
- For live Webcast courses, after launching the Webcast you will be able to view a live chat room. You may submit questions privately or publicly into the chat room. Your questions will be answered live by the Webcast speakers.
|

Can I pay for an On-Demand course or live Webcast with a check?

How long can I access an On-Demand course after I've purchased it?
|
Once you have purchased an On-Demand course, you may access it at any time of the day or night for six months from the date of purchase, unless it is removed from the website before then. Courses scheduled to be removed from the website will have an “End Date” displayed on the View Courses pages and on your View My Purchased Courses page. Please do not register for a course with an End Date if you will not be able to complete it prior to that date.
See the Online Bundle FAQs for information about courses purchased with Bundle Credits.

|
|
Can I fast-forward through an On-Demand course and still get credit?
|
No -- in order to complete the course and receive credit, you must listen to each segment sequentially and in its entirety. Fast-forwarding will result in your having to re-listen to that particular segment.
You may complete the entire course (all segments) in one sitting, or you may leave the site after completing a segment and return to complete the next segments at a later time.

I took an On-Demand course and claimed credit for it in a previous credit year. Can I take the same On-Demand course again and claim credit for it in a different credit year?
|
You may not claim credit for the same course (or an On-Demand course extracted from a live course you have taken) in two consecutive years. You must wait a full credit year to take the same course again.
According to Regulation 102(f), as of November 1, 2004: "A member may not receive credit for any seminar which is not materially different in substance from a seminar for which the same member received credit during the same completion period or the completion period immediately prior to the one for which credit is sought."

Can I obtain credit for a partially completed course?

- For On-Demand courses: No. The MCLE Board will not accept any certificates for On-Demand courses that are not printed from the online course website, and your certificate is not generated from the online course website until the whole course is completed.
- For live Webcast courses: Yes. Because a Webcast is a live program, you may certify partial credit rounded to the nearest half hour.

|
I'm trying to take an On-Demand course, but I can't hear/see anything.
|
Connection Issues:
- If the course is just starting to load and you have a slow connection to the Internet, it may take some time for the course to begin streaming.
- If the Windows Media Player box on the screen says "Buffering", please wait. The system is establishing a connection and will start to stream the course as soon as possible. If the system buffers for more than 2 minutes, please call 800-590-6867.
- Sometimes your connection may be too slow to stream the course, due to internet congestion at some point between the media server and your computer. You may want to try to access the course at a different time of day, especially if other websites (such as YouTube) are running slowly.
Windows Media Player Issues:
If the course is not playing and the Windows Media Player box no longer says Buffering or Connecting, verify that you are using Windows Media Player version 9.0 or better.
- You can check this by manually opening Windows Media Player. Click on the Start button, then click on Programs, then click on Windows Media Player.
- Click on Help from the menu at the top of the screen (if you do not see the menu try right-clicking near the top of the player).
- Click on About Windows Media Player. The version number will be displayed inside the window that pops up.
- If you do not have version 9.0 or better, you will need to download an up-to-date version of Windows Media Player here.
Computer Speaker and Sound Issues:
Verify that your speakers are plugged in and turned on. Also confirm that your audio software on the computer is not turned down. You can check your audio settings by clicking on the Start button, then on Control Panel, then on Sound.
Firewall Issues:
Some organizations (especially government institutions) install firewalls to prevent employees from streaming audio or video. Check with your system administrator to make sure you don't have a firewall in place that may prevent the streaming. You may need to give your system administrator our technical support number (800-590-6867) for help.

I can't get past a segment on an On-Demand course.
|
Please note: If you try to fast forward or rewind on the media timeline, the system may re-start the current segment and you will not get credit for the segment.
Please do not click the Next Segment button until the current segment has completely finished. Some segments have a few seconds of dead air at their end - be sure to check that the Windows Media Player clock has reset to 00:00 before clicking the Next Segment button. Otherwise, the system may re-start your current segment.
Check the On-Demand system requirements and make sure Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player are updated. See What do I need to participate in an On-Demand course? above.
On the Internet Explorer top menu click Tools → Internet Options → Privacy tab to check that your security settings are set to Medium. Click the Sites button on the Privacy tab to Allow eondirect.com to use cookies on your computer.
If you still experience trouble completing a segment, please contact technical support at 800-590-6867. You may need to give your internal network administrator the technical support number so that they can identify any firewall issues.

My computer is displaying an ASP500 error.
|
There are several possible causes for an ASP500 error. Generally, it is caused when your connection to the online course site is interrupted. Logging out and then logging back in to the site will usually fix this type of error.
If exiting and re-entering the online course site does not work, please contact technical support at 800-590-6867. You will need to provide your browser name and version number when you call.

My browser / Internet connection / computer crashed in the middle of an On-Demand course's segment.
|
Unfortunately if you experience a crash in mid-segment, you will not receive credit for that segment. You will need to log back in on the Welcome Page, click the View My Purchased Courses link under the FILTERS header, and then click the Listen/View button to re-launch the On-Demand course. (Click here for On-Demand course launching instructions.) The system should allow you to begin at the beginning of the segment you were viewing when the crash occurred.
If your browser / Internet connection / computer continues to crash, you may want to try listening to the course at a different time of day, when the Internet may be less congested (morning and late evening are recommended).
|
|
Is AOL compatible with this site?
|
We do not recommend using the AOL browser with this website. If you are using the AOL browser and are having trouble getting past a segment, printing a certificate, or accessing the online course site, please try using Internet Explorer browser:

- Then click the View My Purchased Courses link under the FILTERS header.
